Google is bringing up two new features to Android phones within coming weeks. One is Google Assistant, that was previously available on Google’s own phones, the pixel and pixel XL phones, Google Home Smart Speaker and Android Wear Smart Watches. And another is Android Message App which was earlier known as Android Messenger.
Google Assistant Is Now For More Android Phones
Google announced that now more phones (running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), 7.0 (Nougat) & manufactured by Huawei, LG, Samsung, HTC & Sony) will be using Google Assistant.
Google Assistant performs all tasks given by voice commands, just like Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa.
With this update, there is instant access from home button, long pressing on home button takes you to the Google Assistant Interface. Whatever you say, captured by listening bars and instantly put into written form that is shown onto your screen. Then you receive a spoken reply with the results displayed on the screen. It has replaced the old feature ‘Now on Tap’ that was almost failed to work as a Universal Google Assistant to merge the apps and your personal data together. Now, Google Assistant has come up with improved features on Android that would control your smart home devices more efficiently. Now, you can get answers to your queries in no time without searching on google and spending lot of time to find results. See below how it responds to your queries:

Google announced that the update would be rolling out this week to English speakers in the US, UK, Canada & Australia as well as German sperkers in Germany. It is said that more languages will be added to it in coming years. However, so far the assistant can only apprehend English and Hindi as of the moment.
To get the update, you must have compatible phone and have downloaded the Google Play Services App on your mobile phone. You need to update your Google Assistant App before you start using it, press on the home button or say, “Ok Google” to start using Google Assistant.
See how Google Assistant is far better than Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa:
- The first advantage of Google Assistant is its complete understanding of conversational English. It will understand your command in one go without making you repeat the instruction.
- Google Assistant’s digital helper provides direct and straight responses rather than showing maps when asked about the age of a monument.
- It instantly translates in requested languages. The only limitation with google translate is the act of typing.
- It’s digital guide helps you find videos better, being connected to the huge search engine network. While with siri it just simply misinterprets your queries if the requested things are out of its range.
- The best thing is, if you have commanded for selfie, the google assistant will activate the camera app within seconds and start clicking photos in no time.
Google hopes that with this update, millions of Android users will get access to Google Assistant in coming weeks.
Android Messages App Comes Up With Extra Features

This app can be easily downloaded from Google Play Store.
But it is said that Android Messages App would not be pre-installed on Samsung phones as if now.
With the future update to Android Messaging App, text messaging will become more intense in which your SMS will be converted to RCS (Rich Communication Services). With this update, this messaging app will come up with more features such as showing the time when message was read, adding stickers, providing maps and more.
These features would be applicable for messaging done within the Android Messages App. Those who are not using the app, can’t share in those features.
Google is rigorously working with enterprises to bring helpful features to its RCS text messaging.
